How to Unpack Quickly in a Hotel: A 5-Minute Routine

Most people fall into one of two camps. Some unpack everything into drawers on the first night. Others live out of the suitcase all week and spend every morning digging.

There's a middle ground: a five-minute routine that makes your room feel like yours without the full unpack.

Minute 1: Set up your space

Put your suitcase on the luggage rack or a bench, not the floor. Choose one spot for everything you'll use daily: keys, wallet, phone charger and sunglasses.

Minute 2: Hang your clothes

This is the step that makes the biggest difference. If your clothes are in regular packing cubes, stack them on a shelf with the zips facing out.

If you're using the Sejour Set, connect the cubes, hang them from the rail and open the fronts. Your clothes are now in a wardrobe, exactly as you packed them.

Minute 3: Toiletries

Move your toiletry bag to the bathroom and take out only what you use every day. Leave the rest zipped.

Minute 4: Charge everything

Plug in your phone, watch and any other devices, using an adaptor if you're overseas. Find the power points now, not at 11pm.

Minute 5: Close the suitcase

Zip your empty case and slide it under the bed or into the wardrobe. A closed suitcase makes any room feel calmer and bigger.

Why it's worth it

Five minutes on arrival saves you time every morning of the trip, and makes it much harder to leave anything behind on the last day.

That's why we designed the Sejour Set. We wanted arriving to feel as easy as the rest of the trip.
